Receiving the highest award, the gold mark shows the value that Chesterfield places on its provision of PE and reflects the whole school approach and commitment to providing a high-quality physical education, school sport and physical activity offer for all pupils.

The mark is awarded based on:

  • Overall vision for PE, physical activity and school sport
  • Quality of PE
  • Quality of school sport
  • Quality of physical activity
  • Use of PE, physical activity and sport as a catalyst for wider learning.

This highlights that Chesterfield High School is committed to ensuring we offer the best possible Physical Education, school sport and physical activities to our students.

Emily makes dream 1st team debut

Sunday 28th February 2021 saw Chesterfield Sixth Former, Emily Brough, make her first team debut for Liverpool Football Club Women’s team. Emily has been with the Club since the age of 7 and has recently begun training with the first team. In addition to this she has also been a regular team member for England U15s and U17s.

In the 3-0 home match win against London Bees Emily came on as substitute and at just 16 years and 179 days, Emily became the second youngest female player to play for the club. This has capped off a fabulous season for Emily that has seen her represent England in a development tournament at St George Park earlier in the season. As an attacking midfielder she made a confident appearance successfully executing tackles with precision.

We wish Emily the very best for the future and will be looking out for her on future team sheets!

Success for Joe in 1st season at Leeds

Former Chesterfield Pupil Joe Gelhardt’s Under 23s side defeated Aston Villa to win the Premier League 2 Division 2 title! It was a great end to Joe’s 1st season after signing a four-year deal with Premier League club Leeds United.

Joe made 16 appearances for Leeds united Under 23’s last season contributing massively to their success with 11 goals and 3 assists.

In 2018 Joe was part of our Chesterfield Year 11 Merseyside Cup winning team. Before joining Leeds Joe played for Wigan Athletic, making his debut for them at the age of 16.
